Electives are mid-size groups (10-20+) that provide assimilation and the opportunity to explore meaningful and relevant Biblical topics.  Groups meet during both services on Sunday (9:00am and 10:45am) and at various other times during the week.  You'll not only grow as a follower of Christ, but you'll build a deeper understanding of relevant real world topics as they relate to the Bible.  Valuable friendships can be easily achieved.  To register contact the church office (330) 882-4416.

Fall Electives September 10 - November 12 (10 weeks):

The Epistles - 1, 2, and 3 John and Jude with Jeff Shirkman

(College & Career Young Adults)

Sundays 9:00am - Conference Room

Please join us as we continue in our studies in the Bible with the Epistles of John and Jude. These simple, but profound epistles, urge us to live out what we profess and to enjoy fellowship with God by walking in His light, love, and life. These brief but powerful letters both encourage us and challenge us in our faith. We’ll study Jude’s style of his brother James and the theme of 2 Peter in writing this brief but powerful word of warning and exhortation.

Spiritual Parenting with Tom and Jolie Knoebel and Chris and Julie Hoxworth

Sundays 9:00am - Room 3

For parents of any age child, come join others on the journey of parenting! This class will inspire parents who long for more than “just getting through the day.”  Spiritual parenting is raising children with the eternal in mind; inspiring and equipping parents to raise their children in ways that cultivate a living faith that lasts for eternity.

Through large and small group discussion, as well as video segments, we will learn together how to create environments to pass our faith on to the next generation.  Whether you are a single parent, grandparents raising grandchildren, or a two parent home, please join us for this beneficial class. All materials will be provided.

Does God Really Involve Himself in the Affairs of Men? with Andre Clark

Sundays 10:45am - Conference Room

This study will illustrate how God involves Himself in the lives of men and women . . . some Biblical and others not. We will study to determine if there are only a select few who He is involved with or if He intimately engages with everyone He has created, believers and non-believers, for His purpose and glory.  Some examples are:  Joseph and Mrs. Potiphar . . . you are my Master’s wife! Does God help the righteous stand; George Washington: Our founding father and his invisible bulletproof vest; Rahab the prostitute: A “call” girl turned “called” girl; Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I have a dream.” Where do some dreams come from; and much more.

Discovering God Together with Pastor Cary Duckett

Sundays 3:30pm - Conference Room

The Lord said, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16)

Would you like to discover how to read the Bible and hear God’s voice? If so, this elective is for you! Discovering God Together is the Bible study method Pastor Cary uses each week when preparing messages and Bible studies.
He has taught this method of Bible study internationally and now wants to share it with you. It is easy to learn. You will immediately begin to “find rest” for your soul and all you need is your Bible, paper, a pen and 15-30 minutes a day.

Materials for this elective are $10. The elective is for both men and women (great for couples to take together!). Class is limited to 20 participants. Participants will have assignments each week. When the elective is over, God’s Word will be alive and a new priority in your life.  Childcare is provided.  Please note, when you register, if you require childcare.

Dave Ramsey's Finanical Peace University with Ray and Dawn Durkee

Sundays 6:00pm - Conference Room

Ray and Dawn Durkee will be facilitating this series on planning your financial future through the Dave Ramsey video series. They have many countless first-hand testimonials of how this program has changed lives, from an elderly widow who turned her monthly checkbook anxiety into an easily managed plan, a college bound participant who made changes that would minimize her college debt, and a couple that paid down debt that enabled them to be prepared for medical hardships they had no idea would be part of their future. No matter your current status in life, this class is for you.  This class will allow you to tell your money where to go, or you will always wonder where it went! Dave Ramsey Weekly assignments will be part of the curriculum.  While small children may not facilitate the best learning environment, please bring older teens who will soon be on their own and making financial choices of their own!

Location:  A class of 10 families or greater will be held at the church. A smaller number may be moved to the Durkee home in Canal Fulton. Snacks will be determined the first week of class.

Registration will be handled by e-mail between the facilitators and class members.  The material fee (per family) will vary based on the number of participants (from $99-$119) and will not be due until September 3.  In addition to the normal sign-up, a completed “Financial Peace University” registration form is required. Please use personal emails only when regisering - no work emails.
